|
|
Hi Folks,
Have a really difficult and heavy Oil leak, thought it was Crank seal, then Oil Pump Seal, then the Timing casing, then realised Cam seal is behind a plate, its next..
Now I have seen some info about a Cam Carrier to Head "Metal Gasket", that can cause a leak but I cannot seem to see it in the Manual.
Is there such a thing on the 4JXI 3.0, is it removable and is it a case of sealing it, or is it something that needs to be replaced.C. |

yes it's there and you have to remove timing belt and rear timing cover and all the injectors and the cam carrier to get at it and if your going that far i'd change it for a new one |

because the exhaust camshaft pokes through it, so belt off and cam pulley off then it's 4 bolts that hold it to the engine |

Thanks Eithan.
Misunderstood, thought you meant the cover that houses
the holds the timing gears.
Is there a part number for that carrier gasket ?
Agree best to replace, but if in desperation wouls sealant
upset the valve clearance distances ?
