Hi Guys

Can anyone help me out, I know Rhanager has done quite an in depth write up about shift on the fly but I’m not sure if mine is working as it should, at the moment the car is jacked up round all the wheels are off and I decided to change the oil in the front actuator and the only way I could drain it was by taking the four bolts out which fix the fork housing to the axle.

While I’d got the fork housing off but still attached to the wiring and tubing I tried to see if I could get the fork to move by turning the ignition on (engine not running) and pressing the 4WD button but the fork did not move.
I then tried it with engine running and it still did not move, is there something I’m doing wrong as I was expecting it to move.

I bolted the fork housing back onto the car started it up pressed the 4WD button and got a grating noise not un-similar to the noise when the gearbox crashes, is this happening because the wheels are off the ground and the splines on the shafts are not lining up.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light
