Hi Folks,
After advice from Eithan(Thanks Eithan), I got Drew to come over with his Tech2 (Thanks Drew) and re-ran the diagnostics as engine still not starting.
The diagnostic codes suggest:
PEDAL POSITION SENSOR 0.33-0.35, on cranking 2.2-2.3
RAIL PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE on cranking 30-31%
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR maxed-out at 5 and appears to sit there all the time
IGNITION PULSE WIDTH 5.73; TIMING 4.2
DELIVERED FUEL QUANTITY 69 code nm3/stk
INJECTOR DISABLED, when cranked becomes enabled, then goes disabled when still cranking
All helpful suggestions welcomed again please.
Cheers,
Colin |

you need to look at engine speed and oil rail pressure desired against the actual |

Hi Eithan
Orps was, desired -between 6 and 7, actual was between 2 and 3, engine speed was fluctuating around 215, sounded a healthy turnover, injectors were enabled most of the time while cranking.

id hazard a guess at no looking at those readings, it's right on the point of firing at 3mpa so its either got a leak in the high pressure system somewhere i.e an injector or the orcv is goosed or the hpop is struggling to make the pressure |

Hi Folks,
Just to give you an update on the Trooper. I'm saddened to say that the ORPS didn't resolve the issue.
I'd then moved onto stripping down the ORCV to clean, rebuild and refit, but again to no avail.
With much dispair I had to take Trooper to ISUZU dealer for full diagnostics and quote for repair. Was informed that the ORCV was beyond repair so they fitted a new one which failed to make any difference. The mechanic assessed the oil pressure in the high pressure oil pipe to the injectors which was extremely low. Now I've been informed that the HPOP is not working and not producing the pressure. I was quoted £600 for a new pump and to for this to be fitted would cost me a total of £1400, so as this is beyond my current financial situation I got the Trooper towed home where I have have now managed to remove the HPOP.
My next question for the forum is, can these pumps be reconditioned or should I start searching eebuygum?
Thanks again.
Much appreciated,
Colin |

put a used pump on it, easy enough to do it's not timed to the engine or anything and we can talk you through what you need to do |

Excellent advice - as always- from eithan. And thanks for updating us.

Hi,
Eithan, the oil pressure control valve was reading 30-31% when cranking, would this indicate a functional valve.

nope, that figure is the duty ratio the ecu is giving the valve so to see what the valve is doing you need to be able to drive the vehicle. if the ecu is having to open the valve more to let more oil up to keep the pressure right then the % goes up and isuzu say anything over 65% and the ecu is looking for pressure due to a leak. they will max out at about 85% and then you can see the actual oil pressure isn't what the desired is at that point.
it can also go the other way so on idle the normal % is about 18-20 but some times when the orcv has been stripped down it goes down to 0% the engine sounds really rough and it struggles to idle or rev and this is because to much oil is getting past the valve and the pressure is to high. |
