|
|
Hello everyone,
I have a 3.0 Trooper 2005, the problem I am having is every time I turn the ignition on the headlight washers are coming on, I have owned the trooper since new and would have never really used them so was surprised to see them coming on by themselves.
Any idea how to fix this, source the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help |

Hello Eithan,
Yeah both wipers are at the bottom of the headlight, you turn on the ignition to start and the headlight washers and wipers come on when the cycle stops that's it, if you press the button on the dash it works as it should,
Do you know is there a relay just for the headlight washers it's all that I can think I saw the issue a bad relay maybe.
Thanks for the reply |

From the Manual (section 8D-331)
The circuit consists of the starter switch, headlight
wiper switch, headlight wiper motor and washer
motor. By pushing the headlight wiper/washer switch
with the starter switch on, the wiper will make 5
strokes with washer solution applied between each
of the first 4 strokes, regardless of the length of time
the switch is held down.
The washer nozzle is installed to the wiper blade, and
the tank to which the washer motor is installed shared
between the headlight washer and the windshield
washer.
Note added by CB
The timing function is controlled by the alarm and relay control module which is a sealed “unserviceable” unit of electronics in the front n/s footwell area beneath dash level.
My take on the schematics is that the system is initiated if the ignition supply is on and the dash switch is depressed, so if the circuit sees the supply line to the switch being grounded (i.e. pushed) then it starts the sequence for 1 cycle. This would suggest that there might be a short to ground somewhere between the motors and the switch so when the ignition is fired up it starts the sequence once:-
lhs motor end connector C23 pin 3 to H9 pin 20 - R/B wire, ending up at I4 pin 7
rhs motor end connector C30 pin 3 to H9 pin 1 - O/W wire, ending up at I4 pin 5
or look at the switch itself. The circuit diagrams and parts locations are all contained in the manual sections 8D-332 to 8D-334
Hope this helps _________________ '00 3.5i V6 SWB Trooper (18 MPG )
