I’m having major problems starting my 2002 Isuzu Trooper Citation in this cold weather, plenty of battery power, vehicle turning over but just not firing.  All the time whilst trying to start it it’s kicking out black smoke, when it eventually fires up, on about the fourth attempt, it runs at about 1500 revs until it has cleared all the black smoke and then drops down.  The amount of black smoke it kicks out is horrendous, completely covers the drive.
Had a lot of work done on this vehicle last year including new glow plugs - any ideas before I put it in the hands of a garage would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Thanks for your comments, I had the glow plugs done approx beginning of last winter. Two new batteries and then April 2018 complete new clutch including fly wheel, new cam belt, water pump and a few other little bits.  I’ve owned vehicle for nearly 13 years and always had everything done that was needed, 97,000 miles on the clock.  Any suggestions and rough prices would be great, thanks ag
