My 3.0 takes a few turns to start in a morning. It smokes quite alot when she fires. I know that two of the glow plugs are broke. But more recently it has started to take quite a few turns when warm to start. I was going to fit a non return valve on the fuel line. What size would I need and where best would it be to fit it?

i doubt a valve will fix it so some questions first, have you got the right oil in it?  does it start then run for a few secs then cut out? has it cut out slowing down for junctions or roundabouts? what mileage is it on? does it have a random misfire?

It runs fine. It's only done 89000 miles. I use 5w30 fully synthetic. I have also tried slightly overfilling it but it didn't make much difference. Admittedly it could use a service but other than that it is running great. I had the injectors done under warranty a couple of years back and it's never been as good to start as it was before. Isuzu did it so I would expect it was done properly!

lol famous last words, so the valve is only good when it fires as normal then dies after a second or two then takes a bit of cranking before it fires in to life on 1 cylinder then 2 then 3 then 4 so it then smokes for a bit runs rough then clears. if it's just taking a while to start id hazard a guess it's something else.
you are slap bang on the mileage for the orps to go wrong which causes bad starting when either hot or cold to a complete non start at times and if it was near the end of it's life when the injectors were done that had a habit of finishing them off.

My trooper was the same. I replaced the fuel lines it didn't work.  Then new batteries didn't work. Ended up with new glow plugs. Starts fine.
