Hello there,

I wondered if anyone could help me. I have a 3l Trooper (04) LWB that had a rotten tank and due to many other faults I decided to leave it. Over a year later (yesterday) I needed to move it to a different place in the garden and it actually started and moved fine.. only a little bit of stuttering I have decided that it could be useful to use it on my land to move things and just to basically be a workhorse at home - never on the road, if possible.

I previously cut an access hole in the back and now my idea is to put a small tank in the boot just so I can use it now and then. The problem being that I am not much of a mechanic and to be honest I am a bit confused by all the pipes that I can see going to the current tank.
Could anybody advise me on the simplest way to do this, do I need all the pipes or just a send, feed and breather?

Also, what are all the valves connected into the tank currently and do I need them. Once again bear in mind this will never be used on the road so it doesn't have to be pretty, only make the vehicle functional until I can source a new 4x4.

Thank you

I would have thought you needed ... feed to engine, return from engine and depending how you put these two pipes into a  smaller tank - a breather.
If the first two pipes are a 'loose fit' - you won't even need a breather.

No need for valves of any sort.

If anyone disagrees they'll comment.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply, I have actually only just seen it. I had some advise from someone I know and it pretty much verified what you have said - when I get some time I shall give it a try!

Thanks again,
Liam

I'd get it properly fabricated, can get it done for less than a ton around my area.
