I have 1993 SOHC petrol V6 Vauxhall Monterey aka Trooper.
Following an overheating event due to a leaky radiator it has developed chronic water consumption without evidence of external leak I so suspect head gasket(s) - or worse!
The brute is driven by and dearly loved by my wife so as I am not a millionaire yet reasonably competent at spannering I am stripping it myself to investigate.
All was going well (albeit not without some considerable difficulty!) until having got almost there I'm stumped trying to undo the water pipe which bridges behind and between the 2 c/heads.  The ?studs/ nuts are so close to the bulkhead I just can't get to them.
I thought of lifting both heads off together and separating the pipe afterwards, but the Haynes book says there are dowells between head and block meaning each head would have to come off at 90 degrees to its own gasket face, meaning they must be disconnected beforehand.
HELP PLEASE!
