I have lost the keys to my trooper and wanted advice to see if its possible to alter the wiring in order to bypass the immobiliser.
The vehicle is used off road and I have disabled the steering lock / key barrel so its now possible to turn on the ignition but the car wont turn over or start because I don’t have the key with the transponder in it. The car is very useful to me but worth very little so I don’t want to spend much but any advice would be appreciated.

Hi. This might be worth a try but i cant guarantee it on a 3l. It works on my 2.8 , 4trak and a few others.  Just behind the fuel pump you will see a wire that opens the fuel pump . (Difficult to explain without photos-i'm away from mine at the minute but i will try get a photo when im next up there).
If you replace that wire with a direct feed from the positive terminal on the battery it will open the pump. You will hear a small "click". This allows fuel pass through and you should be able to start from the iginition wires once it is opened. Sorry i couldnt be more help with your specific vehicle but maybe this will worj.
Best of luck.
The other option is to get the key code from an Isuzu dealer.4 digit code and give a ring to your friendly local mobile auto technician who should be able to match the codes. Its worth a ring around for best price. For me there was a difference between 50quid and 280! I found a gentleman who did my 3.1 for 80 , took about 40min.
Hope youre back on the dirt n roads soon.

short answer is no your going to need a programmed key to get a 3.0l running as theres no fuel pump like the 3.1 has. the key needs to talk to the immobiliser ecu which then tells the engine ecu all is good and it lets it start, even if you use a key from another 3.0l you will need the immobiliser ecu and engine ecu for it to work

Thanks for your replies - much appreciated. Confirms the only way is to code a new transponder chip with the immobiliser My local Isuzu dealer has given me the 4 digit code & I’ve found a guy locally who says he can do it for £80 - so unless by some miracle the old key turns up I’ll have to go down that route  - anyway thanks again for your help
