New member here, many thanks for the interesting and helpful posts I have read as a visitor over the years, I have the above engine in a Defender 90 called Joe hence Joe90 Looking for a supplier for the gasket behind the timing belt and water pump housing for the 4gj2 3.1 engine can't post pic, but it's this part number on a strange site, might not be the Isuzu number or even a relevant number mind it does link to the picture with the addition of the word gasket. 8-97129429-1. Many thanks

Hi,  There isnt a gasket behind the timeing belt cover and i would  think you can get a water pump gasket from most auto spares shops.

Maybe my explanation and the lack of photo made it unclear, it's the gasket behind the front housing, (the water pump and timing cover fit to it, it bolts directly to the block, you have to remove the timing belt and pulleys to replace it, think it has the crank seal in it too, does that explain it better ?

Ok, I see, in that case would a full engine gasket set from Milners contain the one you are after?  Looking through the one I have, there appeares to be several long rubber 'o' ring type gaskets. Milners part no.000330, cost £45. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, yes it's a big paper style gasket the sizeof the front of the engine, they are in the full gasket sets, which is the way I will have to go by the looks if it's not available seperate, many of the full sets come with 2 front gaskets one for the timing belt model and one for the timing chain version of the same engine. cheers again.
