Just for info, I removed (replaced with a barbed straight connector) the in line in hose thermostat in the feed hose to the oil cooler as when I measured the temp of the oil cooler it was much higher than the general coolant temp, the oil pressure has now gone up when hot and the oil cooler is the same temp as the rest of the system, no noticeable difference on warming up etc so I don't think I will replace it. For those not in the know it is in the heater hose down the rear of the cylinder head, looks like a std metal hose connector but it has a thermostat inside that cuts off the flow till the engine is warm, mine never opened when I tested it to 100c.
