|
|
Hi All -
First post - hope you're all well!. I have recently bought an Isuzu Trooper Duty SWB 3.0Dti as a workhorse (towing vehicle) - It was high mileage, but with FSH. It drove 150 miles back from the vendor seamlessly - however, whilst driving it the other day, it lost drive, and I pulled into a layby close to home. The clutch still seemed to bite (it would inch forwards starting it in gear in first), but trying to drive it the short distance home (300m), the revs needed to move it were very high, and travel was less than 5mph.
Now it is on the drive, I have discovered the following.
1 - Engine is fine -
2 - There is no change of sound applying / releasing the clutch (thinking of a spent DMF)
3 - The clutch bites, and the vehicle wishes to move forward, but feels prevented from doing so (as if the handbrake is on - eg moves a few inches, and then cannot go further - at any engine revs)
4 - Does not matter if 2W/4WD/4L is selected
5 - Handbrake is not binding as it will roll backwards out of gear.
Something bad has happened! Any insights please?
Many thanks

One other thing, when I turn off the engine I hear the sound similar to that of the pinion gear of the starter motor remaining in contact with the flywheel gear (can post sounds if required) which slows with the engine stopping.(!)
This is a new sound which was not there when the issue first manifested |

Well done all. Had it apart now and indeed it is DMF. Thanks for the replies. |
