Loud thump on starting

Hi.
2001 Trooper 3 ltre..71k miles.
Car recently developed a thump..on starting.
Never had it till few weeks ago.
Asked garage if it was likely that engine or gearbox mounts needed replacing.
Told no!
One mechanic who has Isuzu experience..allegedly..said some diesels do have that knock/ thump on starting..and Isuzu falls into that category!

Well not my Trooper..for fully 20 years and 70k miles..it didn't!
