|

Hi there, I am a complete car novice and won't be looking at doing this myself. I have a 05 3 litre Izuzu Trooper that has injector issues, I paid to have one changed but it now looks like another is faulty. I have spoken to a garage locally who suggested swapping the engine to a 3.1 as they are much less likely to have issues. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if it is a good idea or had any experience with the 3.1 engine? My last injector cost over 1500 to change as no one around my way wanted to get involved so any help and recommendation would be greatly appreciated. |

Hopefully I can explain this well enough, in gears 3,4 and 5 anything below 2000 revs it judders like it is going to stall but after it hits the 2000 revs it is fine it has also seemed to get better since the weather has got warmer. When the weather was colder it would also really struggle to pick up any speed, once the oil temp gauge was at the midway point it would then seem to speed up and work normally.
Thank you for your reply |

That's what I thought as the last time it went it started like this then went full limp mode. Would you recommend swapping out the engine or is it not really cost effective just thinking if the injectors keep going it seems like a bottomless pit. |

Previously it was a friend of a friend who owns a garage who fitted it and it was all brand new but due to the price we only fitted the faulty one with all the gaskets and the wiring loom (I think that's what it's called) |

I've just finished the swap and am very pleased with the results. The guy who sold me the 3.0 was so fed up with forking out for fixes he sold it quite cheap. I found out pretty much all the info on here but there's a company who specialise in doing it. Sorry I can't post a link but a bit of searching might put you onto them.
I did all the work myself and had a few hiccups but it's working well now. |
