|
|
Got a masive leak from the hose that runs from the inlet manifold to the EGR cooler. I can get at the hose at the manifold end but how/what is th easiest way the get at the conection on the EGR cooler.
I am asuming that some othe parts may need removing. Will it just be the turbo need removing or the whole exaust manifold. Can I get to it from underneath the vehicle?
Any help greatly apreciated. _________________ Never let a meal go by----Empty sacks dont stand up!!! |

the hose splits in to two parts right at the back of the head, theres a thermostat there so you don't need to get to the turbo end of it. i release the gearbox mount and jack the back of the box top as high as it will go to give myself as much room as possible then remove inter cooler and the plastic cover on the rocker cover and you can just about get to it. _________________ because when the dealer is no longer good enough there's still old mill motors....

Thanks Eithan. I have the EGR blanked off so can I just plug the hose behind the head and at the inlet manifold? _________________ Never let a meal go by----Empty sacks dont stand up!!! |

Well its sorted now, as you said, jacked up G/Box as high as it would go and just managed to get my hands on the conection. Unfortunately it had one of those spring clips on and could not get long nose pliers to open far enough in the limited space. Managed to pull the hose complete with clip off. Put a short pipe back (blanked with a 10mm bolt) and a jubilee clip. Lots of 1/4" extension bars and a u/j and all tightened up. Happy days. _________________ Never let a meal go by----Empty sacks dont stand up!!! |

Start by identifying the leak. This leak is usually present for a short time after the engine has fully cooled down. A few drops of coolant will appear to be dripping off the lower rear corner of the right cylinder head. If you've got coolant here, then take out the turbo and pedestal. |

Great to hear that it's sorted. What did you do about the leak? |
