Hello everyone,

I am brand new to the forums! I have a 1995 Isuzu Bighorn 3.1D Lotus Edition that just crossed 100,000 miles. I am making it my toy vehicle, fitting it with off-road goodies. I am ready to get differential lockers for it, but I am slightly nervous about jumping straight in to buy both diff lockers without knowing for certain that the Isuzu Bighorn has the same front and rear diffs that the Trooper has. On ARB’s application chart, it lists the Holden Jackaroo and Isuzu Trooper, showing RD213 part number for the rear diff locker of the 26 spline Isuzu Trooper and RD203 for the front diff. I am guessing they are the exact same on the Bighorn, but I want to be absolutely certain.

If I may tack another question and explain why I am concerned about the difference between the Bighorn and Trooper, I will explain another problem I have had. I recently found that my 4WD was not working as it should. The 4WD light comes on the dash as it should, the lever slides into the 4H and 4L as it should, but it seems that my auto hubs are not engaging. No matter, I wanted to change to manual hubs anyway, so I bought Aisin manual hubs that are listed as fitting a 1995 Isuzu Trooper. When I received them, I found that they are shaped differently and are much too small for my CV axle. The hubs I purchased were too small and had pointed splines, like points of a triangle, while my CV teeth are large and square. I contacted parts dealers, who asked if my CVs had ever been changed because Land Rovers are typically the only brand with square splines. For reference, the Aisin freewheeling hubs I purchased have a part number of FHG-001

So has anyone changed from auto to manual hubs on a 3.1D Bighorn? I want manual hubs, but I cannot find square spline hubs that will fit anywhere. Do all Bighorn CVs have square shaped splines, or is something weird about mine? Do Troopers also have the same shaped splines?

This weird difference in fitment is why I ask about the potential differences between Bighorn and Trooper diffs.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate your opinions and expertise! If anyone could point me to manual hubs that would fit that would be wonderful and if I can get confirmation that I have the same diffs as a comparable Trooper I would very much appreciate that!
