|

Hi,
I've got a 2009 rodeo 2.5. I have had an ongoing problem with the glowplugs. As I can gather, there are 2 relays for the glow plug system. Relay 1 provides 12v power to the plugs in the first instance ie when the glow plug light is on the dash (prestart). Once the car has started relay 2 provides power at around 6v (through a resistor) for a further minute or so while the engine is on. When I put an avo meter on the buzz bar cable the power it is at 14v (battery charging power) for the minute or so after the engine is running and causing the glow plugs to burn out. I can take a guess that the dropdown resistor that is meant to limit it to 6v on relay 2 is faulty. I've looked at the wiring diagrams to confirm this but have no idea where it is located? Does anyone know where this is? Or if i am completely wrong then please help!
Thanks. |

i don't think there is two relays they are normally ecu controlled and stay on for a while after the engine is started to help pre condition the burn, troopers stay on for 3 mins which does confuse some people. |

Thanks for your reply. On the wiring diagram it shows a resistor that lowers the voltage on the post warming stage to around 6v but I’m still getting 14v therefore burning out the plugs. Do you know the location of this so I can check it?

Engine code is 4JK1-TC (134bhp). Do you have a wiring diagram for this? |
