|
|
Greetings from Malaysia! I have recently acquired a 1990 UBS55 Isuzu Trooper 2.8 Turbo Diesel (4JB1-T engine with intercooler). The engine is super easy to start regardless of temperature, and it drives very smoothly with the turbo kicking in at 2000 rpm. However, there is a hint of mild misfire during idle when the engine has reached its optimum working temperature. The engine shakes/pulsates randomly, shaking the cabin along with it, and the effect can be observed more clearly at the tailpipe (pulsating, gentle "pops"). Rev it up to 1000 rpm onwards and the misfire disappears.
Thinking that it was a dirty/clogged injector nozzle issue, I ran a bottle of Liqui Moly Diesel Purge through the fuel system directly (i.e. instead of dumping it into the fuel tank). The apparent misfiring effect has not gone away - not that noticeable during cold idle, but very obvious during warm idle. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and what did you do to resolve it?
Other info that might be useful/helpful:
a) my EGR has been deleted by the previous owner
b) since I took delivery of the truck I've been filling it up with Euro 5 diesel
c) prior to the Liqui Moly Diesel Purge, I've dumped a bottle of Toyota Diesel Injector Cleaner into a full tank, followed by a bottle of X-1R Diesel System Treatment during the subsequent refill |
