My Trooper 3.0 wasn’t charging as it should. Meter fluctuating, sometimes it would sit at 6v, then move to 10, then a maximum of 13V.
Fitted a brand new blue relay and that didn’t  help. I bit the bullet and had a new 90amp alternator fitted. It’s improved the charging, but the maximum input at idle is 13.9V. Two of my friends have 3.0 Troopers, so I checked both of them today and each are reading 14.5 V at idle.
I wonder what’s wrong!
Any help in finding the solution would be appreciated.
Thanks
Michael

Is the 'new' alternator from Isuzu or is it a pattern ?
I think it makes a difference. I'm sure I've read here that it won't work as intended if it's not a genuine part from Isuzu.

Probably something to do wit the reg/rec in the alternator.

If it is genuine then are the belts at the correct tension ? It doesn't take much slip to slow down the charging.

Thanks
It's a 90 amp pattern one.
Got my mechanic to check it. It's putting out 14.5 V alright, but the voltage is a bit less on the gauge and at the batteries: 13.8V. The belts are tight too.
He's going to do a few more checks next week to see what's happening
