What might be amiss with a 4x4 vehicle where 4High is working fine, 4Low is working in REVERSE only, but in all five forward gears in 4Low there is no power from the transfer box to the front axle?

It can't be a Transfer Chain break because 4x4 is working fine in 4High.

It can't be a Transfer Fork break because 4x4 is working fine in REVERSE in 4Low.

And it can't be something with the reduction gear mechanism because the Low Function works fine in 2WD and in 4x4 in reverse,  but not in any forward gears.

There are no grinding noises or rattles or vibrations from either gearbox or Transfer case. Front hubs are manual locking AVM.

It's a 2006 Rexton with 92000 miles, manual, and absolutely fault-free driving up to now.

Anyone have any ideas?

I know it's not my Trooper, but I'd still like to sort it out. I use both a lot on land, hence the need for 4x4 Low.
