My ABS light came on the other day. Took it to my local garage and he came up with  error code for front wheel drivers side C0221. He told me to get a speed sensor for that wheel as he did not have time to search for a spare as he has had issues finding spares for older vehicle. I got one very quickly and he fitted it today but that has not cleared the problem. I measured the resistance of the new part and it was 4.8 M ohms the old part is 5.1. So original was ok. He says that he does not have the knowledge to take it further and suggested I do some more investigation. (He did not charge me for what work he had done but for good will I tipped him).
Anyone any ideas of what to do next?
Thanks in advance

Did some more checks with different make diagnostic tool owned by friends. They and the jump wire test confirmed there was no fault and no attempt to clear the light worked. Checked the sensor rotor by building a led mini circuit which pulsed when rotating wheel so ok (better test would be with oscilloscope). Friend called round this pm and helped with troubleshooting and we found an obscure reference on you tube that the brake stoplight switch might be involved. We pulled the fuse and ABS light went out tested all light circuits and with fuse out all lights were working. Put fuse back in and ABS remained off. Now  all back to normal turn ignition on symbols light up after couple of seconds lights including ABS go out. (Except engine ones i.e oil etc) Thought I would close the loop on this one in case someone comes looking in future for solution to their problem.
