Hi Folks, Looking for help on a 2000 SWB 3.5 V6 Trooper with shift on the fly system.
Since the car was was first MOT'd, on and off over the years I got an advisory now and again about slight play OR slight noise from front wheel bearing O/S - some years nothing some years an advisory but no work was ever done.
That is until 2021 when it failed on the OS front bearing having too much play and rough when rotated, I got new bearings fitted by them and it was retested and passed.
Then at the same MOT station 2022 and 2023 passed and no mentioned of wheel bearings, but this year it has failed again for "too much play" and here's the weird bit, it has only done a total of 401 miles since the bearing change in 2021 and only 52 miles since last years MOT test.
Is it possible they didn't fit properly in the first place? I just find it hard to believe it's failed so soon and such little mileage.
Also is it possible to adjust to take out play? If so how long should that take a garage to do?
cheers _________________ '00 3.5i V6 SWB Trooper (18 MPG )

If the bearing has only failed on excessive play and not noise, I would expect that after the miles you have done since it was fitted. Being a new bearing and the type they are it would have "Bedded in"
It should not cost much to get it adjusted. 1/2 hours labour at most. _________________ Never let a meal go by----Empty sacks dont stand up!!! |

Thanks, That was the problem and thanks to the Trooper W/S Manual I managed to adjust it out myself with only a slight turn on the plate required.
Guess they didn't pre-load when they changed the bearing. _________________ '00 3.5i V6 SWB Trooper (18 MPG )
