Hi all firstly a bit of a long back story so bear with me so we all know what's going on...

I bought a 1996 trooper 3.2 v6 sohc auto as a non runner, in decent shape and the advert said it had slipped a cog on the timing, some quick research and finding it was non interference I thought I was onto a winner, assuming the owner thought it was dead. Once I started pulling it apart I found the crank sprocket had worn itself away where the key was sits, welded that up and refit but still didn't start, fixed the rotten fuel sender pipes, and the hole in top of the map sensor, still not getting anywhere I shoved a camera down the plug holes and found some exhaust valves stuck open. Pulled the heads off and freed off all the sticking valves which was almost all of the exhaust valves, refit with new head gaskets, timed it up God knows how many times just trying to be absolutely sure it was right. Drained the fuel and refilled with fresh stuff. Freed off the iac valve.

Eventually it starts, but it runs terribly, but it does keep itself running but won't take throttle. I haven't had a chance since to re time it incase the crank is 180 out but that's next on my list. When it's cranking over the anti theft light keeps flashing but it 'starts' so I'm assuming it's not that, didn't actually take notice of weather the light goes out when it was running (I use the term very lightly)

It was motd in January, so it's not like it's been sat ages, I bought it in August but frankly know nothing about what happened between then and when I bought it, but as far as I can tell it should be running better than it is, only got basic tools so haven't done a compressing test or anything like that, I'm thinking I could be missing something that I'm unaware of and want to make sure I've checked everything and anything I can before giving up.

It would seem that someone had been at it before I bought it as its had a rake of new parts fitted, coil packs and leads and plugs, fuel pump, starter motor (plus 2 front calipers, fit to the wrong sides which was interesting) crank sensor and probably more I can't think of right now. There isn't a button key fob just 2 keys, not sure if it should have a key fob or not but can't see that being the issue either.

Appriciate any words of wisdom or insight, trying to not spend anything on it yet until it's running though just incase it's a dud, given how relatively simple they are compared to modern stuff surely there can't be too much stopping it going.

Thanks
