Hi there,

Jacked up the rear of my 3.1TD Isuzu Bighorn/Trooper (Short Wheel Base) and noticed that the springs do not stay captured. I assume the shocks are correct as one of them as been replaced and still has the chassi number written on it. Is there a difference between the long wheel base rear springs and the short wheel base rear springs size as have found some on a long wheel base Trooper.

Where are you jacking the car , the only way a spring should be released is if you remove the bottom damper bolt , then jack the body up . If you jack under the diff the whole car goes up , but as far as I know swb & lwb springs are the same

If you're jacking the thing up by the chassis rather than the axles then it could be possible for the springs to become unseated if they're knackerd and flattened out a bit. This is why lots of extreme off road landrovers use dislocation cones so that the springs reseat properly after big articulations of the axle.

If your springs are dislocating then either the springs are shot, or the shocks are too long. Chances are its the springs.
