Hmm, don't recognise that, is it an old quarry, its not up near Owd Betts is it? Does it have proper vehicular access or is it a sneak on and play kinda place as I know they crack down on people using places for off roading illegaly around here every now and again. I used to go up in a big quarry called Lee Mill until they gated it because of trouble with kids and stolen cars. (Runs between Waterfoot and Whitworth)

We actually had verbal permission to use this site from the landowner, and are in the process of getting written permission with a view to using it as a club venue. The access road however is another issue, and I intend to contact the local council regarding this. We do not intend to break any laws, or bring the club into disrepute in any way. Wink .

I'm up for a visit if I ever get this damn thing fixed and MoT'd, its only 15 minutes or so from me. My Troop is currently in a garage in Rochdale (Tophams) having some new brake pipes fitted after one snapped off whilst I was changing the oil (the one in front of the filter drain plug on a 2.8)

Need to make sure we can use the site legally before I'll go arranging anything, but as soon as we can I'll sort something out Wink

he told me that with the water shortage this would be nearly last on his list but when he has got things sorted he would call me for a meeting to descuse wot and how we want to use the quarry for
im also told that there is alot of 4x4s use this and since this the burnt out cars that r usely found up there has decreesed 8)

Cool, yeah Lee Mill is the other side of the quarry, the two don't quite join up but very nearly. Some of it is very old in fact there used to be the remains of a steam driven excavator at the bottom of one. I've not been in the whitworth side at all and my visits were back in my SJ days about 10 years ago. Pennine Land Rover Club have held various comp safaris and trials up there too and there used to be a big lake you could drive through. Got some pics somewhere of my SJ acting as an ice-breaker one winters day. I'm up for a visit definitely as Whitworth is 5 minutes away from my house.
