My wife and travel from Australia to New Zealand a few times a year. The cost of a hire cars is very expensive. I have looked around in New Zealand and found that I can buy a 92 to 96 Isuzu Bighorn 3.1 diesel for a reasonable price.

I found Isuzu Trooper Owners Club (UK) on the net yesterday (05/08/2006) and spent most of the day browsing the various forums. I gained a great deal of information.

Can any one please help me with any specific things that I should be aware when purchasing a Bighorn?

Gday mate, Im from Kiwi land and the Bighorns have been around here for many years as Jap imports . (Isusu dont sell light vehicles in this country)

The 3.1 is a pretty bombproof engine as long as its been serviced ok.

There is an Isuzu club in this country with its own forum so that would prob be a better bet for you.

I own an Isuzu Wizard which has the 4JX1 engine although models prior to 1997 had the 3.1 engine and they are a nice vehicle.

Roscoe, Thanks for the information. I will also sign up to the NZ site. I am going over to NZ in September and will be looking around Christchurch for the Bighorn.
