Recently posted a problem with my 3.1TD refusing to accelerate beyond about 1200rpm. I received several helpful replies, but nothing worked. Eventually had the system checked by a diesel specialist who found a sticking valve in the pump. Apparently the new "greener" diesel fuel lacks some of the lubricants found in older fuels and if the vehicle is not used regularly this can be a common problem. Solution......use an additive in the tank as frequently as possible. Vehicle now runs better than it ever did before !!

once the engine is warm and up to temperature a good hard drive cleans the system out a bit of the collected carbons and soot
