as mentoned in another post , i'm about to try and fit a 2.8td trooper engine in a vaux frontera , fronty currently has a blown 2.3td. reading the haynes fronty manual it tells me that the 2.8td has the quick on start system (qos) which is different to the 2.3 . any advice on changing the system components ? or does the trooper not have this feature ?

The trooper heaters work like this.
In summer the light just flashes on and off
In winter it stays on for a few seconds
Its all down to the temperature, hope that helps  Confused

its all to do with the thermostat housing sensors.

Personally remove the whole 2.8 harness and fit into the frontera.

The QOS system is to suitably time the glow plugs to warm the engine sufficiently prior to start up.

You could even put the glow plug resistor on a switch to activate or disactivate them as you see fit.

Should be a fairly easy conversion, just do a regasket prior to fitting
