Fitted a new thermostat the other day to the 2.8td,
noticed that the old one is twice as deep as the replacement I purchased
although it runs okay and temperature seems okay too.

But did read in the 2.8 manual that the thermostat can be
single valve type or Dual Valve type.

So does this mean, it does'nt matter if you fit a single or dual ?

Maybe I'm being stupid!

Perhaps it's supposed to be the dual since this is for quick warm up

My 2.8 (not intercooler type) has the dual type.

This was purchased from halfords, the first one was the single type and a different temp to the old one (82deg was the old one I think)

I took it back and presented the old one, the guy checked it against some pics in his book, and said it was one from a bedford midi or something!

Shame most of the helpful and knowledgeable older blokes have been replaced with McDonald's rejects Rolling Eyes

I think the same engine was used in the bedford, although it was a 2.5 I think Confused

I would put the dual one in if that was what came out.
