Oddly enough, Matt at independent 4x has a contact who has come up with modified mountings for the front axle casings on the Mk1s, effectively dropping the casing, therefore reducing the angles on the CV joints, although this would increase the angles on the front propshaft. However, I think its a case of he will only put them into production if the demand became high enough, due to production costs. ( I will try to find the link and insert it here ).
As for lifting the Mk1, mine settled at about plus 2 inches, and yes there was a reduction in droop travel, but not enough to lift a wheel on road. Off road the rear end does most of the work anyway, so unless you have seriously stiff rear springs on the back you shouldnt really notice it as a problem. _________________

Right, any one know the stock ride hight for a mk1, as mine looks a little low compared to the back end.
And how do you measure it? |

Right thanks to siweb, I have lifted the front end of my mk1 by 1".
This has caused no problems with the handling of the vehicle on the road, and the camber seams fine, so I do not think the ball joint flip is necessary in my case.
Literally took 5 minuets with a breaker bar and a 27mm socket, I didn't bother to jack the front end, just cranked it and then jumped up and down on the bumper. |

Mine is now 460mm from the top of the hub to the wheel arch.
I have not measured it the proper way yet, but will let you know. |

i have uk spec trooper citation 3.1 93 swb also & i need it to get ready for rally albania as there is not much time,iam open to ideas & has anybody also got schematics as iwill make the kits my self.iwould appreciate any help as iwant to fly the flag right. |

Really depends on what you are looking to achieve. Presumably you are looking for some heavy duty coil springs for the rear to carry the weight in the vehicle better. There are a number of options open to you for springs. Milners HD standard height but stiffer. Explorer do a longer spring, +2" I think. Old Man Emu do a range of springs too, as do TJM.
I have OME HD springs (929) which i am very impressed with, quick delivery from Holland too.
Shocks are available from the same companies. Several people on here use the Explorer ES9000 shocks, which come in a number of lengths. OME do a choice of shocks with different firmness of damping.
I have a winch fitted to the front of my trooper and havent changed the torsion bars but although it dives a little more under hard braking i can't justify the expense of changing the torsion bars.
Personally i would ring one of the 4x4 specialists and see what they can suggest. I bought my springs from http://www.oec4x4.com/ who i found to be really helpful and not too Land Rover biased, they are the UK inporter for TJM. Devon 4x4 may be able to help as the importer of OME. Sorry for the slow reply webby.Thanx for the advice& tips& it is very appreciated ,i have just bought a citation 3.1 k plate 93 trooper with a drivers dorr & wing dammage with a rattly thrust bearing on the clutch & i want to get it optimised for pulling caravan& also to be very capable for off road use,i might bashout the ding in the door& offside wing & checker plate around it. iam very interested in anything i can do to vamp this girl up & am also playing twith the idea of cng conversion also to help consumption& added power,it is supposed to make you burn the fuel on a scale 95 % from what i have read.back to topic on susspension ,iwould really like her to be capable of towning a caravan& then go offroad .thnx for the reply buddy |
