Just been trying to get some bits from Isuzu garage for my 92 3.1 but they do not recognise the chassis number.  They have sent info to isuzu in japan and are waiting for reply (2 days so far).  Have checked the number and it has the standard 17 digits for a uk vehicle, but it identifies it as a 2.8.  I have had it for 18 months and there is no record of an engine change, it is all marked up as a 3.1 as any other vehicle.  Has anyone else had similiar probs and if so so what was the outcome?

regards

Where do i find the engine number?  Have looked around the engine and all i can find is the plate on the bulkhead that has the chassis number and various other numbers/letters.

The chassis number is JACUBS55FM7
MD - UBS5VF AJ/JB
ENGINE -RLF

I understand parts of the chassis number but the other ones mean absolutely nothing to me, they may be of help to you.

If you could tell me where the engine number should be I will have a look.

best of luck

Oh dear that's looking suspect! I hope it sorts itself out and there is an explanation for the discrepancy.

your engine code RLF refers to a2.8engine
your VIN No JAC UBS55 that also is a2.8 engined vehicle

you say its a 92 vehicle the way to check is on the vin plate underneath the vin no there are "two letters / two letters and the last two should be
JC
the first two letters is the month

Vehicle is a mk II,  Ichanged the alternator on it last summer and the one that i took off was for a 2.8.  So the plot thickens.  When I get home I will have a look for the engine number and put it on here and also the reply from Isuzu.

Fingers crossed

Cannot see the engine number.  Any tips?

Have had a reply from ISUZU and theydo not seem bothered, they have identified the car as what it is so I think someone maybe can't be bothered as it is a fairly old motor!!!!!!!!!

So I think I will have to leave it for now and see what develops. If anyone has any further ideas they would be much appreciated

TTFN
