On my 95 Trooper Diesel, one of the pipes on top of the coolant header bottle cap is not connected (has been cut). There is two outlets on the filler cap, one goes to the Radiator, but where does the other one go? |

Mine doesn't even have a stub of pipe on it.
Marky got it in one, overflow. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

Thanks for the reply. But now I have a problem then. Because earlier today I topped the Coolant up the Maxium Mark, it was at minumum. I then started it up, and all of the coolant ones warmed up came out of that pipe. Do I have a big problem? I brought the vehicle last weekend, drove it 2 hours no problems. |

Not all of the coolant, just down to the minumum mark. |

Which is level with the bottom of the tub pipe attached to the cap inside the header bottle. At this point no more can enter the pipe. |

May be a stupid question, but I didn't really understand what you just said. Check that the pipe between the radiator and the expansion tank cap is connected to the right spigot. The correct one is the one which has the internal pipe connected to it. Take the pipes off and blow through them to be sure.
To clarify that because it's a bit late:
If water flows from the radiator it goes along the rubber hose, through the cap and goes down the internal plastic hose into the water contained in the expasion bottle.
The overflow side of the cap should have nothing connected to it inside the bottle. I suspect yours is connected the wrong way round for starters. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

You also need to remove the radiator cap (when the engines cool) and fill the system right up to the cap before filling the expansion bottle to the mark. Then see what happens when the engine warms up. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

Changed the pipe round, filled the rad first, followed by the header bottle, as you said. It works a treat, no water over flowing now. Thanks for your help. And thanks for this fantastic forum. Its great that there is so many people who are willing to help each other. If it was not for this forum, I would be going mad by now. Its fantastic that there is others out there who are in to Isuzu's and not the rusty constantly breaking down Land rovers as are most of my mates. But I am hopping to show them what Troopers are capable of and Land rovers are no match. |
