just wondering fellas if anyone knows how much i could "tweak" the boost pressure on me turbo?! i have fitted a gauge in the dash so it would be striaghtforward and at the moment she boosts at 1 bar (14.7 psi) thanks, Kevin

Don't know, but are the ends of your intercooler plastic or metal?

Not sure... I know a few (including myself) are looking at ECU remaps or plugin boxes.

1 bar is actually quite a lot of boost pressure - generally speaking, that is.

Raising the boost pressure on its own will have no effect on a diesel unless the fuelling is increased as well.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if 1 bar is already delivering more air than the engine is burning and that you could just wind up the fuel delivery a bit to make more use of it.

Just thinking on... increasing the boost pressure could throw the MAP sensor reading out. The 3.0 has more sensors than bolts Rolling Eyes

it even measures the EGR valve pressure (hence the reason its not good practice to blank off the EGR on a 3.0)

Forget everything I said: load of b@ll@cks! - I didn't pick up that it was a 3.0 you were talking about!

Of course, everything is controlled by the ECU. It is very unlikely that the ECU would simply respond to an increase in boost pressure by increasing the fuel delivery.

Quick way to find out - just disconnect the air pipe from the turbo's wastegate actuator and stuff something up it to stop too much air hissing out. Now go and try it. The turbo will now have no speed/pressure control but won't come to any harm in a brief test. (Don't do this to a petrol turbo engine or you'll be sweeping engine bits off the highway!)

My guess would be that it would reduce the fuel delivery in response to a reduction in target boost pressure, but not the other way round.
