Hi,
Isuzu trooper owner looking to dabble a little in off-roading.
Plenty of byways where I live which would be ideal.

I understand you have to apply to local council(?) for permit to drive on these tracks (some tracks are signed permit only).

Any idea if this is the case and how much I should expect to pay?

Thanks

Norfolk/suffolk borders.

I neighbour rides his pony+trap on the byways and he pays about £60 per year to do this.

Don;t know if he is being ripped off or it this the law?

I was just about to post that the only permit schemes i can find are for horse & carriage such as this one in wales
http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-6JVJ9M
But They also do a simlar one in the lake district national park that includes 4x4's
http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/green_road_gatescarth

So it looks like some places do need permits for motor vehicles or horse drawn carriages  Rolling Eyes

Thanks for your help.

I'll give the council a call and see what they say - i see enough off roads (bikes/4X4) as well as horse riders on the tracks - bizarre if only the horse riders have to pay

Good weekend.
