Due to the nature of the axle conversion i was not worried about adding a lot of weight to the front end as it sat higher than the rear, but strangley the front has not dropped much at all and to make matters worse i was planning on mounting my old 9000lb winch on the rear!
May have to re-think the suspension setup!!!!

The problem with the mk5 is the air bag sensors. I felt it was easier and cheaper to fit the PWR kit than go to the expense of an ARB or TJM bumper. Also if the car was regestered after the 1st August 1998, the bumper needs to be EC type approved, as does the tow bar.

So does that mount use crumple zones or what? I am assuming a solid bumper would be too sensitive to impact for the airbag sensors.

No the mount bolts on to the captive nuts that the towing eyes fit on on both sides of the chassis and is re-inforced with an upright bolted on to the chassis and the bracket bolted on to the towing eye mount. The bumper still bolts on to the usual mountings and is unaffected apart from the central baffles having been removed.

Help me out Webby as I don't do airbags or ABS for that matter 
Are there sensors in the original bumpers for the airbags or would changing to a solid steel bumper cause a problem for the onboard sensors upon impact?

I think the air bag sensors are in the chassis rails at the mounting for the bumper. There are no wires to the bumper when it is removed. I think a metal bumper could probably be fitted but for the air bags to continue to work correctly it could only be fixed to the origional mounting points.
The bumper mountings are 2*8/10mm bolts each side. With a 9000lb winch, i would much prefer it to be held on with more than that. Which is what the mounting kit allows, via the towing eye mountings and two 12mm bolts through the chassis.
Sorry been busy this week will get some pictures at the weekend.

That's an amsome conversion that you've done to the front end of your frontie !!!!!
So you have any other pics of how you've done the conversion / suspension set up???
