Hello All

Great forum.

Just got myself a 1998 (S) 3.5 Citation LWB Auto and was wondering if anybody knows a good independent in the South Wales area?

I am prepared to travel a fair distance for a decent service.

BTW, one other question; should my car have remote central locking as standard as it has only come with two keys and no fobs! I had expected remote as I had read about it in the spec. If it is just a case of a lost fob, what sort of job/price is it to replace it or is it better to add an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser?

Thanks in advance

Chris

welcome
does the alarm activate when you lock the drivers door (does the light on the dash flash)
1 way to check the alarm is to leave the window open on the drivers door, lock it with the key, then put your hand in and open the door by the  lock inside and the alarm should sound, to switch it off just put the key in the door and turn it(thats what mine does)
the key fob on mine was a right pain in the a*se as it was too sensitive, it was unlocking the car from over 30 foot away (not good when you put the keys down in the house and it knocks it and unlocks the trooper)
hope this helps Laughing

Hi rallymarshall

Thanks for your reply.

Yes the alarm does work in the way you describe.

Does this mean that it should have a remote fob with it, and can I therefor get one and is it expensive?

heers

i had 2 fobs with mine but i left them off the key ring cos they were a pain and i just use the key ( got fed up with coming out of the house in the morn and finding the troop unlocked)
have u looked on the well known auction site, cos there sometimes sum1 selling them (prob have to get it coded to your trooper but i wouldnt know were to start with that)

Still would like a South Wales independent if anyone can help?

Hello All

I have been given the name of Vale 4x4 in Cowbridge (Tony).

Does anyone know/recommend this company or is there anyone else that I can consider in the South Wales region. I will travel.

Cheers

Chris

Hi I have used David Coe in the past 1st Class but you have to wait to get in. He is so good and reasonable with costs he is always busy. He is based in Gorseinon, Swansea; adjacent to The Mardy Hotel, cant miss it secure yard and big workshop

Hi wmcj

Thanks for the contact. Unfortunately, as we are taking the car abroad later this week, I had to resort to using a main Isuzu dealer which is still a 90-min drive!

I delivered the car yesterday before your reply!!

On the positive side, they do appear to be one of the cheapest main dealers around at £45/hour. Still way too much for me but at least they should be trained and have a Tech 2 machine.

Anyway, do you know if Dave Coe has a Tech 2 in his workshop? Not essential but just wondering.

I will certainly give him a try next time.

Cheers

Chris
