My 2000 X reg. 3.0L Trooper Insignia has had starting trouble in the last two weeks, on two occasions failing to start completely. Occasionally the engine check light would come on and once the engine did start the throttle, when applied, would not increase the engine revs above the idling revs.
I duly booked it in for a full service (which was about due) at the main dealer and the only 'fault' they could detect was 'fault code in memory for throttle body, new throttle body needed'.
They said that they could not get the Check light to switch off and if the problem persisted to bring the car back to replace the throttle body at a cost of about £300 plus fitting.
I have looked at previous posts on this subject which are excellent, and it would seem that it a fairly straight forward job that can be carried out by myself at home. I have just phoned Milners for a price (£182 + vat) but unfortunately they were expecting a supply in April and said that this shipment did not arrive so they could not supply the item.
Could any of the experts out there shed any light on the above and possibly suggest an alternative supplier please?
Or should I just 'bite the bullet' and return to the Main Dealer.
Thank you, Mayfly

It might be worth phoning round the dealers to see if any others have got stock.

There are two types of throttle body - one for the early motors that sits horizontally on top of the inlet manifold (close to the bulkhead) and the later model sits at an angle between cylinders 2 & 3 halfway down the inlet manifold.

Thanks for the Replies.
Yes it was Threeways at Abergele. Only bought the Trooper in December so my first visit there.
The service provided was Excellent and the cost of the full 12,000 mile service I thought very good value at £215 inclusive. For that reason I will not hesitate to return there for subsequent services.
With regard to the throttle body, having read the posts on this site, I thought if wasn't too difficult a task I would like to give it a go myself, and being a thrifty Welshman, if I can save a few pounds, well even better!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt buy Trooper from Abergele. Bought it from a big garage in Oswestry who had taken it part exchange from someone who had bought a brand new Shogun.
It came with full Isuzu Main Dealer Service history, all recalls done, so with Threeways only a few miles away from me I thought I would continue with Isuzu service.
