Hi all.
I am new to the forums so, Hello all, and please forgive my ignorance of all things Isuzu.
I have a 2000 year Vauxhall Brava with a 2.5 turbo diesel Isuzu engine. It starts like a petrol engine and goes on the promise of diesel, but it has absolutely no power, which is just as well as the standard brakes are on the dangerous side of totally *beep* unless fully unloaded.
Assuming that the Brava is in fact a TF and for stubborness I won't change it,
My questions:-
What can I do for more power? (I have the pump screwed out slightly, but the clouds of black smoke are embarassing).
What can I do for better brakes?
What can I do for better traction?
Can I buy a MOT failure Trooper and transfer the parts across?
That is engine, gearbag, transfer box, front and rear axles (with LSD?)
Whixh type of Trooper would you recommend? 2.8 or 3.1 (3.0's are regarded as plage carriers here in Ireland.)
Many thanks in advance.
Oh and let the flaming commonce. |

The 2.5 engine in the Brava does lack power - I know a guy with 1998 motor and its flat as a whistle!
2.8 motors... superb engines!
3.1 motors... lack a little power for their size yet they are still a superb engine
3.0 motors... assuming the recalls are all up to date they are full of power and just as reliable as any other engine. You might struggle with the electrics tho - its a fly-by-wire motor and needs all its electrickery to run. _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Dont quote me but i think the 2.8 will just drop in there, its a great engine and will pull loaded just the same as empty _________________ |

There was a run of earlier 4x4 models with a 2.8 and then the later motors were a 3.1 _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Kinda like the old Series Landrovers... oil spillage/vapour protects the front end while the back end rots away

Many thanks for your help.
I can't make any sense of any of them.
Perhaps if I was a little clearer.
I want to buy a doner vehicle (crash-damaged/mot failure) to take the brakes axles transmission and engine for my Brava.
What year(s) would you recommend?
I would like a LSD, My truck is not for off roading but will be required to tow (a lot). |

Like they said in ITOC Speak.....A MKI Trooper with a 2.8 td motor will make an ideal donor
There'll be plenty around in the UK as they rot like Rabbit's socks (ITOC joke) and you should be able to pick one up for around £100 ish with a good drive train. You'll also find them with LSD axle as well....
Hope this is clear enough OK.... _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..
