Okay, I'm going to mention the 'L' word, so brace yourselves...

You know how it's possible to buy rock slider sills complete with ports for a Hi-Lift jack for Land Rovers?  Well, has anyone heard of such things for a Trooper?

Unfortunately the chassis on a Trooper appears to be set well back from the edge of the body, so I'm not sure how a homemade set could even be mounted in such a way as to be able to take the weight of the vehicle when jacked?

Come to think of it, where do you guys shove a jack (when off road)?  And do any of you use Hi-Lift jacks on your vehicles?

Hmm.

Tony.

I have searched and searched and found only one manufacturer, but they are in Israel.

I think the answer is to fabricate, although as you say it might be easier if you did a body lift first  Shocked .

Thanks guys.  When that catalogue arrives TQO, could you let us know if there are sliders in there?  Thanks.

I think modified Landy parts might be on the cards.

I can't jack on my winch bumper, as it's airbag compatible, and designed to have a similar crush rate to the oem bumper. It does this thru the mounts ( a specific torque on the mounting bolts), so if I try to jack it, chances are the mounts will move.
Thats one of the reasons I need rock sliders, the other one is that my sills have already taken quite a battering, and thats with a 3.5 inch lift. Maybe I should just calm down a bit off road  Laughing .

Snowjunkie, you're gonna have to stop all the bad language Wink

I reckon The Quiet One has the right idea of extending out from the side step mountings. They will still flex when jacking but the existing sill will stop them bending too far by haring the load.

Mr T...If a little damage wasn't acceptable you would have stopped after the 1st time you went offroad Twisted Evil Sill damage goes hand in hand with a long wheelbase, just make them good before you sell it and keep the rust off in the meantime Laughing
