Hi, my coolent is not exspanding into the coolent exspantion tank.

It will not draw from it either.

The pipe is clear and the spring can be compresed on the rad cap.

Any ideas?

Mines the same, although it uses no water and appears to run Ok. I've put it down to another Isuzu feature.

i'd probably worry more if it was filling it!! never taken any notice of mine, if it runs fine doesn't overheat etc wouldn't worry too much. must admit don't ever check my coolant level  Shocked  just top oil up and screen wash and put bonnet down again!! (and i work for bmw  Embarassed )

It should expand into it when hot and take it back when cooler.

If it doesn't it must put more pressure on the hoses???

is everything flowing ok? i'd think you would get a bit of a level change do the hoses get pressurised or does it run hot?

On mine the hose to the expansion tank is attached to the radiator after the radiator cap. That means that there is no flow to the  tank unless the cap lifts, and once the pressure drops in the radiator the water cant flow back as the cap is shut. Had this a few times this week while experimenting with my electric fan  Embarassed  Embarassed  Embarassed

It's probably the top seal of your rad cap, or the rad cap's been replaced with an ordinary one without a seal.
