We'll I've done 1000 miles on it , so I was due for something to break.
When I de-immobilise it and turn the key the starter starts to turn the engine, and then pauses (whilst I'm still holding the key on start ), a second later it continues and starts the vehicle.
It doesnt do this all of the time, but enough for me to start losing trust
Does this sound like the starter, or immobiliser going ?
Any advice wecome before my monty becomes a driveway monument
Better get some work done now . |

without been to vague, it depends on the imobiliser it could be 1 that cuts power to the starter motor but more often they cut fuel suply. sounds like a loose wire to me as its just stopping then starting again, i had a similar problem on my old car and was the main earth wire. im sure some1 else will come along with other options. |

Hi
What year is the car?
Mines a 1994 3.1 (diesel) and has similar problems, however I could live with it if I knew that by holding the key in the start position, the starter would eventually turn over again.
Unfortunately the symptoms are more erratic ranging from no issues at all, the occasional blip (as per your symptoms) to turning the key and hearing the immobilser relay click a few times (glovebox area) but no starter. The latter usually happens in garage forecourts and the reset time can range from 10 - 15 minutes to over an hour (on a recent occasion I was stuck for an hour (fortunately not at a forecourt) and as the yellow van pulled up with Mr AA - the bu**er decided to start!!).
Loads of posts on the site regarding immobilser issues. When time allows I think I'll be following the instructions elsewhere on the site on how to by-pass it. _________________ (1994 3.1 LTD LWB Monty) |

I get this issue...
I will be replacing the immobiliser shortly, so will be able to tell if this was the issue! |
