i brought a 2000 3.5 auto swb in july. it had covered 10,500 (now 16,500)
its my first real 4x4 . quite a differene from my saxo vtr!.
after paying the insurance (only 20 the day i brough it!)the best cAR NO/OFF ROAD I have ever driven.better off road then my old mans disco!

i have a problem the key is stuck in the ignition. it wont go in to lock and the gear can be moved out of park with out pressing the brake.

where can i get a workshop manual from for this model.

what is the best oil to use.

Sorry I can't help on the workshop manual, but after 6 years with a Trooper I reckon the best oil to use is Carlube Triple R. It's a 15/W40 semi-synthetic oil and it kept my '88 2.8td as clean as a whistle. I've got a 92 Bighorn now and use it in that too, so it's just as well that it's cheap (about £15 for 5 ltrs ) cos this one uses a tub-and-a-half! Best of luck with the manual. Leo.

i have a look are that oil.
i have found a full dealer manual. but it is for a 2000 3.2 engine.
do you know if there is much difference between.

is it the same layout just with a bigger bore?

I had the same prob with the key being stuck in ignition and i could take take it out of drive with out using the brake. It turned out to be a relay located next to the gear lever which is connected to the brake & the ignition via a cable. The cable had just come off, took me about half hour to fix.

The relay is there to ensure you do not put it into gear without your foot on the brake. It is a safety thing that all modern auto's have & prevents you from sticking it into gear and shooting forward & hitting something whilst on full choke!
