What difficulty rating would changing these be?
We're ok, in general, at the mechanics type stuff but baulk at the majorly pita stuff...
Not sure when this was last done so want to see about doing it sooner rather than later _________________ '93 Trooper Duty 3.1TD |

Diff oil - Check for G80 code (i think) under the bonnet - this will signify an LSD in the back end, ONLY use LSD oil if it's present.
Changing diff oil though is dead easy - undo the bolt at the bottom of the rear diff, drain, replace bolt, fill up through upper bolt until oil just appears at the upper bolt hole.
Same principle at the front, but the drain hole is one the the bottom bolts which holds the diff casing together...
Gearbox, again dead easy -- if you've got an oil syring to get the oil back in... I've done it with a fair liquid bottle before and a length of tube, but it took about an hour to get the oil in.
Both are jobs which can be done at home though. _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

Awesome.. thanks.
It's a 'Duty' so should have LSD but I'll check anyway.
Any ideas on how much each diff and the 'box takes? _________________ '93 Trooper Duty 3.1TD |

Like dxmedia says, one of these makes it easy to fill the g-box and transfer case.
Undo the filler first to make sure you can before you drop the oil

I've been caught out on this with a lwb frontera - steel filler in an alloy gearbox - nearly had serious issues there !!!!!
Check you can undo the filler first !!!!!
