You could get a solenoid fitted for cheap money
A new starter is £120 + vat + delivery from milner
Or you could find one in a scrapper (its the same starter on the 2.8 mk1 as the 3.1 ) _________________ |

I would say the solenoid, but without taking it off and bench testing i cant be sure
I assume the Vauxhall is the same as they share the same engine but it would be best to cross referance first. _________________ |

Hi, brand new so please be kind!!!
I have a very similar problem, my Trooper seems to start perfectly for days/weeks on end then 'out of the blue' I will turn the key and hear nothing but a click. Try as I may there is absolutely nothing! Go back five minutes later, turn the key and it fires up straight away. Very annoying and as myy work base is 60 miles from home , then I travel within my working day, I cannot rely on it.
I read some other posts and threads but as I say I'm brand new to all this - I'm a computer geek not a mechanic! Any help would be hugely appreciated.

As the other post - do you have an imobiliser? The click is the ignition relay flicking over (difficult to say without hearing it though ) if there is nothing after that then the solinod isn't firing either far enough or not at all.
If you hold the key up hard for a couple of senconds, does it then fire?? > move to position 3 as in your trying to start - you hear then click - and keep the key where it is? _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :
