Hi all, I am new here cracking forum!

I need hel, I have just bought a 1994 LWB Bighorn and looking to do an oil and filetr change with a n engine flush as the tappets are rattling. It seems there are two oil filter types and I think i need the thinner one. Any guesses on Halfords part numbers for these?

Also, what is the best flush to use to cure tappets and how on earth do I get the oil filter out, it seems boxed in by chasis...?

Any help would be great Smile

You get to the oil filter from below, move the steering to left hand down, and you can get via the drivers wheel arch. The filter is at an angle though, so when you take it off, fold a length of cardboard (about a foot long by 8" wide) and have this sitting along side the filter else you'll get oil on the floor.

Flush won't help with tappets since they are on meachcanially adjustable, not hydrolic. They need to be set to 0.4 iirc

Are the filters not interchangeable??? have a look at yours, and when you get a new one get the same Wink

Many thanks for that, i will have a look at the oil filter, the diameter looks about right for either to work. There was a brand new filter in the under seat storeage that I will try Smile

As for the tappets, how easy is it to adgust them, or how expesnive for a garage to do it, I am not the greatest car mechanic Sad

oh, and if I do the tappets myself, do i require any specialist tools?

And a prayer to get that pipe off from over the top of the rocker cover... I had a hell of a job with the bolts in the exhaust manifold...

Take the rocker cover off, pull the engine over by hand (with the keys in your pocket and no where near the ignition) when the rockers get as loose as they can, adjust them up. Have a pad of paper and pencil and make a note of which ones you've done.
