Can anyone help me please, I live on Anglesey and my nearest Main Dealer is 60 miles away in Abergele. They have just told me that they can't even look at my 3.0 Insgnia (1999) until the first week in April!!

I'm a hospital worker and work nights so I really need my Trooper looking at now. The problem seems to be a common one - its a devil to start then when it does start it runs quite well then cuts out just as if the ignition key has been removed.

It has had the injectors replaced under warranty, it has just had a full oil change, including oil and fuel filters and has 5w 30w fully synthetic oil. It's like the engine is being starved of fuel. Local mechanics won't look at it. I sent it for diagnostics locally and they found nothing. Milner's can supply a throttle housing but say it may be the pressure switch ,which they don't supply.

Help, please.

It could be a cracked oil strainer in the sump, i'll let the 3.0 lot take it from there  Smile

Marky has hit the nail on the head here... it sounds as if the strainer in the sump has cracked and so the oil is not being fed around the high pressure circuit - as a result your engine is being starved of fuel as the oil is used to provide "power" to the injectors.

Thanks a lot lads, will try that, my other half wants to swap it for a Nissan! Threeways of Abergele have not been very helpful to say the least and as I said previously 60 miles away. This engine has a bad reputation now and nobody local wants to touch it.
