can anyone tell me what the noise from the engine is its fine most of the time then somtimes when i stop and take it out of gear there is a rattling type of noise coming from what sounds like the underneath the engine then when i press in the clutch it goes and most of the time comes back once i let the clutch back out its only started to happen recently. thanks |

it could be either thrust bearing on the clutch or a worn idler gear in the gearbox..................thrust bearing is mostly though _________________ '92 2.8TD SWB TROOPER.............SOLD

My Trooper has done that for over a year, i turn the radio up

I agree with Shrekky and Keith, a thrust bearing is just a round thing(top right) that pushes on the pressure plate(top left) to release the clutch spinner plate(bottom) when you press the pedal, at worse if it collapses you wont be able to disengage the clutch.

could also be the flywheel rodeos have a history of noisy clutch/flywheel assy. |
