hi all, anyone know how to refill the gearbox on a 2000 w reg fabia 1.4 mpi? if you have one of these and it is knocking when pulling away and changing gear it will be the lower control arm bushes(which are a bad design, ok i said, i will change them for my sister along with a new anti roll bar which had also failed(((59000 miles) Shocked  skoda wanted £580 to do this job and now i know why!!!! you have to drop the subframe to get the anti roll bar out and you have to change the ends pressings of the subframe over for exchange parts because you cant replace the bushes your self (45 pound each plus vat) has the car companys gone crackers?

Most manufacturers are using the modular approach to front end building. Everything fitted to the subframe before it goes into the car. Try the anti-roll bar on an Astra F and the even worse electric steering rack on some Astra Gs Evil or Very Mad There are only so many knuckles to take the skin off before you just set fire to it Laughing

yes i think it is mate, also seat leon? i think . heard about the vauxhalls, i dont totch new ones but i had a mark1 astra years ago and that was reliable and easy to work on but you can say that about most late 80s /early 90s motors. popped the drive shaft out the box coz i was going to fast with the rebuild and lost some box oil over the new drive (again) Shocked  the old man aint impressed Rolling Eyes  thats why i ask where to top the box up Very Happy

yup ,my sister had the felica before the fabia, this was a much better design and did last longer. she still had a front spring brake on it though due to the spring mount on the shock rusting right through Shocked
