Man o man what a day...What a place! Big thanks to Andy (Moglite) who despite the fact that he's VP of the Shires Land Rover Club drives a Bighorn (which he hates) hmmmm, I'll get back to you on that one. What a site! It's a Tank Recovery area for the Army and has a bit of everything including swamps, hills, bogs, sinking sands, forested areas, tracks you name it....

Without further ado, here are some pics. There are more on the way tomorrow. I only got a few 'cos I was too busy driving....

An overview. Caution, there are Tanks lurking in the trees....

The only guy I could find to go with me was Craig, who has just bought this pristine V8 Disco. He's barking mad and thinks he's William Wallace and attacks everything and everyone he can. This is refelected in his driving style...

Here he is in a quiet moment. The 'Horn lurks behind...

He ripped a tyre almost clean off! Respect......That's Andy (Moglite) and his 'Horn on the right...

You wanna see a FMIC on a Trooper? Pretty ain't it.

Some general shots coming up...there were over 100 vehicles there, 99% Land Rovers as you would expect but oddly enough, Isuzu was the second most popular make with 3 vehicles, only one of which got REALLY muddy - mine.

More tanks....

There were some great vehicles there and a lot of gutsy driving..PS, the pinky red one in this shot has, GULP, 400 horsepower and sounds like a Formula 1 racing car.....too cool matey.... Cool

Anyway, that's the end of Part I. More pics of the 'Horn in action tomorrow..

Thanks again Andy - say goodbye now.....

PS I'm still grinning......The 'Horn was fantastic - nothing stopped it all day..... Laughing

Thing is Peej, you could have poodled around on flat sandy tracks risking nothing and parked up near the "Seven Hills of Bordon" for the Land Rover Cabaret - which consists of many near sinkings and creative ways of getting in and out of your drowned vehicle without getting your feet wet. What a hoot...

Good family day out - burger van and a thousand trees to pee on....

To be honest, I learned a lot at times just watching rather than driving. Great day out for £30 and only 40 mins from you mate....

Glad you enjoyed it. It was a really good day out.
All our committee and marshalls worked their butts off, something to do with the fact we had 116 paying vehicles on-site - our biggest event to date.
I was too busy with the organising to get out my MogLite creation alas.

I hope we are able to book the site again. So you better get all your excuses ready now.

Oh by the way, it was the grey 90 with the big horse-power engine. A full blown John Eales 4.5. I got bellied once, and the aforementioned 90 pulled me out. Pulling several tonnes of Isuzu from really soft sound, the sound effects from the V8 were awesome.

The Series 109 to the right is running a 4.6 V8 and portal axles from a Volvo C303. It got burried in 4-5 feet of water on the setup day on Saturday - madness.

Another pic - my Landy friend is drip feeding them to me the bug*er....

This is the drop that took the tyre off the Disco. There is a deep hole underneath the near side front tyre which wasn't apparent until he fell in. I had the benefit of him "taking point" and so was able to steer slightly to the right and avoid the worst...

Some more Bordon action...

I pulled him out of this....

And this....

But I went through it all myself (without assistance)...To be fair, this Disco on dodgy road tyres did very well owing much to the commitment of the driver... Smile

Even the "Big Boys" got stuck!  Shocked
