hi all, i have had a small temp climb today and no heat in the cab so i put it down to low water level but i though it was strange coz i checked it 3 days ago???, pulled up in plumsted at my mates house ,lit it cool and popped the bonnet to see what was what. coolent level was well down so i topped it up and everything was ok, then....... the same happened got it home and checked the level again. lost all the water in a 9 mile drive started her up to presherise the system and to my suprise it is spraying water out the front valence and over the nudge bar its a new rad job, the question is how much? my local factors do one for a manual troop but my one is an auto bighorn 3.1 and i am shore the auto/manual rads are different, where is the cheepest place? please let me know , i am gutted |

Milners prices on radiators seems to fluctuate... it could depend on where their stock comes from (ie the imported stock could be cheaper than UK sourced?) _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Make sure the heater is set to on and jack the front up so its easier for air to make its way to the rad. I take it you'll give the engine a flush through with a hose first to mshift any loose crud. _________________ Phil

If you use a hosepipe when you fill (thru the rad cap) make sure there is room for the air to escape. I usually prefer to use a watering can (clean) then I can see how much has gone in. When filled replace the rad cap and fire up the engine (with the heater on full temp) and leave to idle for a short while ... double check level and fill as req'd. _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

I have cracked the t-stat cover before to let it bleed out, but it has never needed it.
I fill through the t-stat aperture with the cover off and t-stat out till it won't take any more, refit the cover then top the rad up. _________________ Front Aussie Locker - Rear LSD - Petrol Diffs

thanks thats lots of help. i am replacing the t stat as i do with any motor i do the water system on coz its cheep so i will fill though that way as suggested. cant feel my fingers now so i will start again in the morning. do i take the intercooler off as well and back flush that? the water has never been done and was a job i was getting round to coz i new it was bad(brown ) also how do i flush round the turbo or is this not nessasary, so many questions just one more,is the auto box oil pumped to the radiator and gravity fed back to the box. will i get box oil out when i pull the hose to the rad off ,is basicly what i am asking? |

Yes the atf is pumped around by the box so you will get some oil out of the cooler and some out of the lines so best bet is to plug em with a bolt or something. Just waz the hosepipe in the top hose with the t'stat out and let it run until its clear out the other end, then I usually shove the hose in the bottom hose and flush it that way too. It should clear the whole engine/heater etc out. _________________ Phil
